Finally took images from my Photo 1 class last semester. I kinda went a little overboard with it. teehehee. Took an average of 40 hours of shooting 12 standard black and white rolls of film, developing, printing many, MANY proof prints, and final prints.
Then another average of 40+ hours of designing, hand fabricating the frames and assembly.
I dont like to toot my own horn but im really proud of this one. If you would like to see it

37th Toys Designed by Artists Exhibtion

I got this in the mail the other day and about scared my roommate to death! One of my friends in the metals department told me i should totally submit "El Musta-Cheh" to this show and after she told me i really really should i decided why not. I really wasnt expecting to get in, i really wants sure if my piece really could be concidered a toy but the more i think about it, it totally is!
anyway the show is in Arkansas and im totally going to do everything
in my power to be able to go!
The reception is December 16th and the
show will run till February 20th.

I FINALLY took pictures of this! Last year I
got to take a Mokume Gane class and boy is that process very intensive. I made one good billet and my other one failed. I really enjoy working with the
patterned metal its such a really neat touch and there are so many ways to finish it and different combinations of metals you can use to create it!

I've been pretty sick this past month and decided that I was going to at least make it some what productive. This actually started out at just a doodle when i was working
on my color theory homework and totally snowballed out of control into what you see now! may i also say making that chain was such a PAIN!!! but well worth it in the end :D
Also it was accepted into the 5th Annual Intercollegiate Metals Exhibition!! Last year my "Every Cactus Has its Thorns" piece made it in and won second place in jewelry! wish me luck this year!

This was such an exciting show for me.
All four pieces i submitted made it in and i won first place in the entire show!
The show itself was really impressive, i had no clue and really surprised me when i won, i was just happy i got
in the show to begin with. There was sooooo
much really nice stuff in the show and i
defiantly had some favorites, all around awesome show
full of amazing artists! I feel honored to get to have my art in there with them.

wow i never realized i never took photos of this! i made it almost 2 years ago!! and boy let me tell you what those hinges kicked my pa-to-teeeeee!!!

-Afterlife-

Where do we go when we die? Each side of the Pyramid of the Afterlife represents 3 different possible outcomes. The doors are Phoenixes Guarding the entrance, and they known for rebirth. One side represents Buddhists and reincarnation. The back side represents wicca and the returning to mother nature. The final side represents the afterlife. I decided to not go the typical way and represent christianity and went with ancient Egypt instead. The rose inside the pyramid is one of the roses from my grandfathers funeral. I held onto it as long as i could to keep it intact for something really special.

My First College Level Show, and My First College Level Win

Tonight was the opening of the 4th annual Intercollegiate Metals Exhibition,
This is a juried exhibition of jewelry
and metalwork from the students and faculty of
seven different universities across the nation!
i was lucky enough to get my cactus piece in, and
even more lucky by wining second prize in the jewelry category!!!
How awesome is that!!!

The show had so much awesome talent and amazing work!

Lost and Abandoned Memory

On one of my antique store raids, i came
across this metal box, to discover that within
this metal box, was a slide viewer and slides
from the 1960's of a trip to the grand canyon.
They were Abandoned and Forgotten in life's movements.
Memories long gone, ghosts of what was.
I bought them and took them home to give them
meaning again.

So this is what i came up with.
and may i say im REALLY excited
to see what all comes out of this series :)
in normal light the piece looks nice and simple
and you cant really see anything but black
in the slide. But hold it up to light and there's
your hidden oasis, at your very finger tips.
let your imagination take you away to a calm place,
where water is streaming, and birds calling, a prefect
getaway from today's busy world. The Negative shows
a lovely stream/creek flowing down rocks of all sizes
with a sweet sky and trees.

todays post is about my final piece
for my enameling class!
so with out farther or due,

im really happy with the way this turned out
even though i an avid desert hater
i really enjoyed making this!
though im still not sure why i picked
to do something deserty if i hate it so,
i think its the fact its can be really pretty in the
spring, but everything you touch pokes
and pricks you, so maybe the relation between
you my see a beautiful flower but in the end
it stabs you and brings you pain.
just because its pretty doesn't mean
its something good.

so its kinda like my orchids, they look
pretty but their are nicks, bumps and bruises in the
finish, and its those bumps, bruises and nicks that make
us all unique, nothing is ever perfect.

its lifes imperfections that shows
everyone who we really are.

okay so this is what i am working on at the moment!

im going to be patinaing all the leaves with a dark
green, and some liver of sulfered black,

so apparently water is an import thing.
and i know for a fact that i get dehydrated
pretty easy so i try to at least drink 1 glass a day...
well TRY
but apparently i havent been keeping
close tabs on it the past few weeks,
and BOY does it suck to get as bad as i was on
tuesday and wensday.

i work 2 jobs and i go to school,
so i really wasnt paying any attention.
now i work one job and go to school.
i desided this week my health is just not work
killing over it.

like i was so bad i should have gone to the
emergency room but theres no way im paying for that!
so i sat in a chair all day drinking water.
-_-
ive never felt so dizzy and so disorientated in my life!
like i couldnt even walk straight for 5 feet with out almost
falling over. i felt ill all day.
i almost pasted out on tuesday,
that was scary.
completely wasted my time all
because i didnt drink water.
missed class missed work.

totally not worth it.

so lesson here.
drink some damn water.
its good for you and vital
to your health.

Wings of Metamorphosis, Come fly with me

The symbolic meaning of the Raven in some folklore describes the raven as a creature of metamorphosis, and symbolizes change/transformation. In that a Raven symbolizes me in that
main reason. I have had to change and transform myself over and over. Whither it be me moving to a new school for the um tenth time, or the obsitcals that seem to never end. I made the raven out of leaves and other parts of nature to connect that nature is around and in us all
and it is the ever essence of peace for me and my safe area. Gold is a precious metal so i figured it would play a key part in the piese as a whole not just for astectic. i heart ravens =^_^= <3
